Virginia Guastella

Virginia Guastella was born in Palermo in 1979.
Academically trained (Diploma in Piano, Composition and Laurea cum laude in Musical Aesthetics), she works in various fields: avant-garde, jazz crossover, soundtracks for TV, cinema and advertising.

She is the creator and artistic director of UOF - Urban Opera Festival, a new musical theater festival organized in collaboration with the DAR - Department of Arts of the University of Bologna, DumBO and Robot Festival.
In July 2022 her work "L'ombra di un meriggio lontano" based on texts by written herself, by Amelia Rosselli, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Dante Alighieri and Franz Kafka saw its first performance. The work was commissioned by the Montepulciano International Art Site Foundation.

Recently, the world premiere of his monodrama "Angelica Cunta" for mezzo soprano and ensemble commissioned by the Nuova Consonanza Festival in Rome was crowned with acclimated by the audience.

In 2021 she was Composer in residence at I Concerti della Normale di Pisa upon invitation of the artistic director Carlo Boccadoro.
In the summer of 2020 the Puccini Festival at Torre del Lago, upon invitation of the artistic director Giorgio Battistelli, commissioned the duodrama "Floria, sì, sono io" presented in world premiere at the Festival with Stefania Sandrelli as narrator.
In the same year she was invited by the Ravenna Festival to write and perform her original music for a duo show with Massimo Gramellini.
