Equally at home as a violinist and violist, Serbian musician Milena Simović enjoys an illustrious international career spanning solo performances, recitals and chamber music.
Acclaimed for her work in Europe, Asia and America, Milena appears as a soloist in Russia, China, Italy, the United Kingdom, Norway, France, Portugal, and throughout the countries of the former Yugoslavia, performing alongside some of the most established personalities on today’s music scene.
Milena’s chamber music partners include Ivry Gitlis, Vadim Repin, Leonidas Kavakos, Antonio Meneses, Yuja Wang, Denis Kozhukhin, Vadim Kholodenko, Konstantin Lifschitz, Beatrice Rana, Boris Andrianov, Itamar Golan, Julian Rachlin, Roman Simovic, Gordan Nikolitch, Tim Hugh and many others.
Milena’s concerts have been broadcast by major international broadcasters, including BBC Radio 3, Medici TV, Rai Uno and Arte, and her performances have been praised in the press as “…an exceptionally delivered performance, charged with a brilliant combination of operatic quality, which was jaw-dropping at times” and “seductive and exciting…with rare artistic sensibility”.
Milena is Professor of Viola at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London and is a resident viola teacher and chamber music coach at the Culture Festival in the Sardinian town of Santulussurgiu, held every August and attracting students from all continents.
Milena Simović received Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music, specialising in violin, from the University of Arts in Belgrade and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. She subsequently continued her studies on the viola, completing a second Master’s degree at the Zurich University of the Arts under the guidance of Lawrence Power.
Milena Simović plays a Giovanni Battista Rogeri violin dating from circa 1680 and a Paolo Antonio Testore viola dating from 1740.
