Born in Aarau (Switzerland) in 1999, Leonardo Bizzotto cultivated his passion for music from a very young age, starting with the violin and piano before dedicating himself to the bassoon at the age of 11.
His musical training was guided by renowned teachers such as Matthias Racz at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, and subsequently Stefano Canuti, Adam Mackenzie and Roberto Giaccaglia in Manchester. He was awarded the William Waterhouse Scholarship during his studies in Manchester at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), where he is currently completing his master’s degree under the guidance of Andrea Zucco.
Leonardo enriched his artistic background by participating in numerous masterclasses and lessons with illustrious musicians such as Klaus Thunemann, Andrea Zucco, Bence Boganyi and Carlo Colombo. These experiences helped shape his style and musical vision.
As a soloist, Leonardo has had the honor of performing with orchestras such as the Izmir State Symphony Orchestra and the Zürcher Symphoniker. He also is an active member of the cosmopolitan ensemble composed of former students of the Royal Northern College of Music. His passion for chamber music has led him to collaborate with other talented musicians, performing in various contexts in Europe and beyond, in prestigious concert halls and international festivals. Leonardo has received various awards, including both first prizes at the Swiss Youth Music Competition in the solo and chamber music categories. He qualified for the Prague Spring competition and the Muri competition (Switzerland).
