Since 2009, Dutch violinist Diet Tilanus has been a member of Amsterdam Sinfonietta, a group of passionate musicians who engage their audiences through original programming and the intimacy of chamber music playing.
She is also the founder of the Jacob Olie Trio (piano trio) and the Goldberg Trio (string trio). With the Jacob Olie Trio, she recently recorded her first CD, featuring works by Babadjanian, Dvořák, and Martin.
For several years, she has formed a duo with cellist Ors Köszeghy. As a chamber musician, she has performed in remarkable and inspiring venues such as the Barbican Hall in London, the Hermitage and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Kobe Center for Performing Arts in Japan – during a concert supporting post-tsunami reconstruction – the Arties Festival in India, and on tour along the east coast of Australia.
She graduated with distinction from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, in the class of David Takeno. Before that, she studied with Ilya Grubert in Amsterdam and was a member of the Academy of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. She has since returned there regularly as a guest and also appears as guest concertmaster with Phion.
In spring 2022, she was invited to become Artistic Director of the Bach Week at the Luther Museum in Amsterdam. Music filled the spaces of this museum for an entire week. The concerts quickly sold out, and a second edition took place in April 2024.
During her studies, she was part of the Ricciotti Ensemble, a group dedicated to bringing music of all genres to the widest possible audience by performing in the most unconventional places – such as care homes for people with disabilities, prisons, asylum centers, and even on the streets.
Diet plays a Goffredo Cappa violin made in 1690, generously on loan from the Dutch National Musical Instruments Foundation.
