Diet Tilanus, a dutch violinist, studied in Toronto, Amsterdam and London, and is currently a member of Amsterdam Sinfonietta. With her pianotrio (Jacob Olie Trio) she made her debut at the Muziekgebouw aan het IJ, and they recently recorded their first CD around folk music with pieces by Babadjanian, Martin and Dvorak. Diet also played with the Academy of the Royal Concertgebouworkest, London Symphony Orchestra, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and English Chamber Orchestra, with conductors like Claudio Abbado, Pierre Boulez and Marriss Jansons.
Diet plays in festivals like the Arties festival in India, Cordes sur Ciel in France, het Grachtenfestival in the Netherlands, and played chamber music concerts all over Australia, in Kobe (Japan), in Singapore, in the Barbican Hall in London and lots of other beautiful places.
In 2022 she became the Artistic Director of the first Bachweek in the Luther Museum, Amsterdam which became a big success.
In May of this year Diet played the premiere of a new piece written for her and Servaas Jessen, double bass, by Ors Koszegky, in the Veere String Festival. In July 2022 she will make a chamber music tour through Iceland with Guja Sandholt, mezzosporano and Heleen Vegter, piano. Another premiere is due in November ’22 with a new piece written by Michel van der Aa for string quartet, actor and film.
Diet plays on a Cappa violin, made in Italy in 1690, kindly lent to her by the National Music Instruments Fund.
