Cecilia Hutnik

CELLO

Cecilia Hutnik was born in Antwerp, Belgium, 1999. Her Belgian mother and Polish father are violinists in the OSCYL (Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León). She began her piano and cello studies at the age of seven. When she turned eleven she entered the Conservatorio Profesional of Valladolid. When she was eighteen she moved to San Sebastián to study with renowned cellists Asier Polo and Maria Casado.

After finishing her degree she moved to Oslo to study a masters with Bjørg Lewis having also lessons with Torleif Thedéen. She finished her second master studies in orchestral specialisation in the Amsterdam Conservatory with Gideon den Herder (principal cellist at the Residentie Orkest in The Hague) and Mick Stirling (principal cellist at the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest Amsterdam) as main teachers.

During her career she has participated in several competitions winning the 1st Prize in the Parque Alameda competition (2015), 3rd Prize at the Jaime Donato Benavente Competition (2016), she was 2nd finalist in the autonomic phase in the Intercentros Melómano Competition (2016), 3rd Prize in the César Uceda Competition (2017) and the 1st Prize in the Cidade Vigo Competition.

She has been a member of the JONDE (National Spanish Youth Orchestra) and a reserve member in the EUYO. 

During the 2023/2024 season she completed her position as an academist in the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra. For the 2024/2025 season she will continue her apprenticeship as an orchestra musician with Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra.
