Carmen Mérida Gómez began studying violin at the age of eight at the “Músico Ziryab Conservatory” (Córdoba), where she took her first steps on the instrument under the guidance of Carlos Ruiz Moral.

At twelve, she joined the conservatory’s professional orchestra, led by Manuel Pérez, and from its inception, she was also part of the ensemble Dale Cuerda a tu Corazón, led by Gabriel Arellano, performing in numerous concerts.

In 2019, Carmen was selected as a soloist for the Young Talents Series at Sala Cajasur, organized by the “Músico Ziryab” Conservatory. Two years later, after winning the conservatory’s Best Performers Competition, she performed Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 3.

At fourteen, she joined the Córdoba Youth Orchestra. Under the direction of Alejandro Muñoz, she performed in numerous concerts, including Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and Handel’s Messiah at the Gran Teatro de Córdoba.

At sixteen, Carmen joined the Andalusian Youth Orchestra (OJA). During her time with the OJA, she studied with Alejandro Ruiz, Alexa Farré, Aglaya González, and Mariana Todorova, and performed under the direction of Carlos Domínguez-Nieto at the Teatro de la Maestranza and the Villamarta Theatre in Jerez, as well as under conductor Lucía Marín at concerts held at the Gran Teatro de Córdoba, the archaeological site of Itálica, and the Palace of Charles V in Granada.

She has also performed with Camerata Gala, directed by Alejandro Muñoz, in numerous concerts, including the release of the Espiral album and the Eutopía Festival.

In 2023, as the winner of the Soloists’ Competition organized by the Córdoba Superior and Professional Conservatories, Carmen performed Saint-Saëns’ Violin Concerto No. 3 with the Córdoba Orchestra.

Carmen has attended masterclasses with Yulia Iglinova, assistant concertmaster of the RTVE Orchestra, Cecilia Berkovich and Andrea Sestakova. She is currently studying with Liana Gourdjia at Musikene (San Sebastian).
