Born in Seoul, Ahran Kim began her flute performance studies in Israel with Yossi Arnheim. She then continued her studies in Germany with Robert Winn and Thaddeus Watson. She also obtained an Artist Diploma with Jaime Martin at Royal College of Music and a Master’s Degree from Mozarteum University, where she studied with Michael Martin Kofler.
She has held the Principal Flute position in the KBS Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed with orchestras such as the Swedish Radio Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Royal Northern Sinfonia, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Camerata Salzburg and the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra.
Outside her orchestral activities, she has made concerto debuts throughout Asia and her Vienna Konzerthaus solo debut with the European Contemporary Composers’ Orchestra. She performs with the OENM (Austrian Ensemble for New Music) and has also collaborated with Birmingham Contemporary Music Group. She also has been Artist-in-Residence and teaching faculty at the Dartington International Summer School in England.
