Mattia Riva

BASS

Mattia Riva, born in 1998, began his musical studies at the age of 10 under the guidance of Maestro Amerigo Bernardi at the Higher Institute of Musical Studies "Achille Peri" in Reggio Emilia where, in 2018, he obtained his diploma with honors. In the meantime he was able to increase his instrumental training by attending the specialization courses at the Fiesole Music School held by Maestro Alberto Bocini and Marco Martelli. He has participated in various Masterclasses with Masters Klaus Stoll, Petru Iuga, Edicson Ruiz and Dorin Marc, receiving further musical stimuli. Finally, he continued his studies by obtaining a Master's degree at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München with Maestro Philipp Stubenrauch.
In the years 2015 and 2016 he was the double bass of the Italian Youth Orchestra. He then continued his orchestral training through some projects with the “Luigi Cherubini” Youth Orchestra and the EUYO (European Union Youth Orchestra). He regularly collaborates with various orchestras, including: Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Mantua Chamber Orchestra, Leonore Orchestra and Orchestra della Toscana (as first double bass).
He has also won national solo competitions: in 2018 he won the 1st prize at the XII competition for double bass “Werther-Emilio Benzi”. Since March 2020 he has been a member of the Akademie of the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunk, where he has the opportunity to improve and participate in the concert activity of the orchestra.
