The SIGNUM Saxophone Quartet is anything but ordinary. It is the result of a friendship that began in the classroom and has grown stronger, evolving and reinventing itself over the years. SIGNUM’s style is a fusion of different musical genres, combining a devotion to the sound world of the string quartet with a deep passion for the rock classics of our time. Added to this is an unmatched charisma that highlights the remarkable skill and virtuosity of its members: Michal Knot, Jacopo Taddei, Alan Lužar, and Edoardo Zotti.
From the very first moments of every performance, the quartet creates dazzling and emotionally rich soundscapes, driven by a curiosity for musical experiences beyond all boundaries and a constant pursuit of the perfect ensemble sound. The SIGNUM Saxophone Quartet’s passion embraces all eras and genres: from original works for saxophone quartet to arrangements of orchestral music, from the Baroque repertoire to rock music. The joy of making and sharing music that animates the SIGNUM Saxophone Quartet is difficult to describe—it must be experienced firsthand.
After winning numerous international competitions, the young quartet made its debut at the Carnegie Hall in 2013, marking the beginning of its growing international success. Named a “Rising Star” by the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO), SIGNUM has since performed on some of Europe’s most prestigious stages, where it has become a regular guest.
The SIGNUM Saxophone Quartet is known not only for its concerts but also for its many collaborations with distinguished musicians. Particularly noteworthy are its performances with the renowned violinist Daniel Hope, who also invited the quartet to appear on his television program Hope@Home. The ensemble has likewise collaborated with major artists including Ksenija Sidorova, Sarah Maria Sun, Giorgi Gigashvili, and Fazıl Say.
SIGNUM’s extensive orchestral repertoire continues to evolve. Most recently, the four musicians premiered a new arrangement of Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky, arranged by Jun Nagao for string orchestra and saxophone quartet. In the 2027/28 season, the ensemble is also scheduled to perform a new concerto composed by Avner Dorman.
The SIGNUM Saxophone Quartet has released several albums, including Echoes (2021), its first recording with Deutsche Grammophon. In 2024, the quartet released its latest album, Chameleon, on Berlin Classics.
SIGNUM is an artist ensemble of SELMER Paris and, since 2024, has served as “Ensemble in Residence” at Bayer Kultur.
