Severin Van Schmid

VIOLIN

Severin Van Schmid, born in Ratisbonne, Germany in 1995, started playing the violin at the age of 3, with his mother. He continued his studies in Luxembourg and Ratisbonne. In 2011 Severin becomes a student at Hochschule für Musik und Theater de Munich in class of Julia Fischer, and in the piano class of Markus Bellheim.

He continues studying with prof. B. Garlitsky in Essen, Germany. From 2018 Severin holds a position of a violin solo at Orchesterzentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen. He was invited to festivals in Germany, Switzerland, USA. He is awarded the government grant by Cusanus Werk foundation and “Villa Musica”. Severin is playing a Grancino 1692 violin, loaned to him by Rheinland Pfalz.
