Miroslav Petkov


Miro Petkov, Bulgarian musician, is the Principal Trumpet of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. He is an internationally recognized trumpet soloist, as well as Professor of Trumpet at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

Miro was born in Varna and started playing the trumpet at the age of eleven with Ivan Iliev at the National School of Arts Dobri Christov and later, in Detmold, Germany with Max Sommerhalder at the Hochschule für Musik. He won many international competitions, including the YAMAHA International Trumpet Contest and the ARD Music Competition. Before moving to Amsterdam in 2016, Miro held the position of Principal Trumpet at the National Theater Mannheim in Germany.

Alongside his classical music career, Miro enjoys to play folklore music, jazz, electronic and contemporary works.
