piano

Born in Portoferraio (Elba Island) in 2007, Matteo Bussi began studying the piano at the age of five with Marcella Chiesa at the “Musicantoelba” school. Since 2017, he has continued his training with Carlo Palese, concert pianist and professor at the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali “L. Boccherini” in Lucca.

Despite his young age, he has already received numerous awards in national and international competitions, including First Prizes at the “Città di Villafranca,” “Giulio Rospigliosi” in Lamporecchio, and “Premio Crescendo” in Florence, where he was selected to perform as category winner. He has appeared as a soloist in contexts such as the PerPiano Festival in Livorno, the concert seasons of the Boccherini Conservatory and Lucca Classica, as well as in recitals in theatres and concert halls in Portoferraio, Lucca, Florence, Viareggio, Monte Argentario, and Sesto Fiorentino.

He is currently enrolled in the academic program at the Conservatorio “L. Boccherini” in Lucca, where he was admitted with top marks. His repertoire ranges from Bach, Mozart, and Haydn to Chopin, Liszt, Schubert, and Rachmaninov, also including 20th-century works by composers such as Bartók, Debussy, Scriabin, and others.

He has taken part in masterclasses and advanced courses with internationally renowned artists including Josu de Solaun, Pasquale Iannone, Zlata Chochieva, Giampaolo Nuti, Alessandro Taverna, and Piotr Banasik, and has attended high-level training with Carlo Palese at the Festival Internazionale dei Colli in San Gemini. In 2024, he participated in the 14th edition of the International Piano Masterclass in Katowice (Poland), a prestigious event in the European piano training scene.
