Ksenia Bashmet

Ksenia Bashmet was born in 1980 in Moscow and graduated from the Gnessin Special Music School (studiyng with Elena Efrussi and Tatiana Zelikman) and the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatry (under Lev Naumov) where she also completed her postgraduate studies, specializing as an accompanist and chamber music performer. She later won First Prize at the Ist International Sergei Taneyev Chamber Music Competition (Kaluga, 2000) and XVIIIth International Chamber Music Competition in Caltanissetta (Italy, 2003). Ksenia Bashmet has appeared in several international festivals such as Young Stars of the 21st Century (Samara), Sviatoslav Richter’s December Evenings, Moscow Autumn, The Return and Ars Longa (Moscow) as well as at festivals in Rolandseck (Germany), Tours (France), Verbier (Switzerland), Tanglewood (USA) and Elba (Italy). She has also given concerts in Europe, Japan, the USA and Israel at venues including Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall, The Vienna Musikverein, Beethovenhalle in Bonn among others. Ksenia performed with chamber ensembles such as the Moscow Soloists Orchestra, New Russia Symphny Orchestra and the Russian Chamber Orchestra of London as well as the philharmonic orchestras of Sochi, Tolyatti, Samara, Krasnoyarsk and Voronezh. She appeared with outstanding musicians including Saulius Sondetskis, Gidon Kremer, Natalia Gutman, Viktor Tretyakov, Alexander Knyazev, Boris Andrianov and Yuri Bashmet. Two CDs were recorded for Quartz label, the second of which – Michael Nyman: The Piano Collection – was named “Disc of the Week” by Great Britain’s Classic FM magazine.
