Chiesa del Santissimo Sacramento

Portoferraio

This beautiful church, built in the 16th century and decorated in the 18th, offers special acoustic qualities to enjoy the Festival’s concerts.

Not far from Piazza della Repubblica and the cathedral, the church of SS Sacramento dates back to the 16th century (1551) and boasts a beautiful “floral” ceiling decorated with coffers, interesting 18th-century paintings, a high altar in polychrome marble, and a wooden crucifix that is said to have been found in the ruins of Fabricia (the name of Portoferraio in Roman times).
