Presenting the 28th season

Martha Argerich will be the star of the opening concert of Elba Isola Musicale d'Europa 2024, which will take place from 30 August to 14 September in several locations spread though the Island.

More than 70 musicians from 14 nations for a Festival immersed in historic places and among breathtaking landscapes, which this year returns to its primary venue, the Teatro dei Vigilanti “Renato Cioni” in Portoferraio, where the event took its first steps back in 1997.

«This return coincides with some important anniversaries that we will celebrate in the spirit of the Festival’s tradition. In our artistic journey across the Island, we will offer to the public different facets of music, including sounds and rhythms of tango, South America, jazz, and, at the closing evening, of a silent film accompanied by live music. Although its roots are firmly anchored in the chamber music repertoire, Elba Isola Musicale d’Europa is by its very nature an eclectic festival, which mirrors the variety of the world music scene, just as varied as the audience we intend to reach» (George Edelman, Artistic Director).

The 20th Elba Festival Prize will be awarded to young French pianist Arielle Beck. In addition to many extraordinary guests, as every year, the Festival Soloists will return, both as protagonists of chamber concerts and, alongside young talents, as leaders of the Elba Festival Orchestra, now in its third year.
