Born in Coro, Venezuela, Mabel Rodriguez began taking viola lessons as part of the famous Venezuelan music education program “El Sistema”, founded by José Antonio Abreu. In 2011 she became a member of the Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar, directed by Gustavo Dudamel. This orchestra represents millions of young people in Latin America whose lives have changed thanks to classical music. Over the next five years she began to build her artistic profile and, after several international projects, she decided to study in Europe.
In Germany, Mabel Rodriguez participated in several projects with ensembles and symphony orchestras, developing her orchestral playing skills. In 2019 she wins the audition for the position of intern in the WDR Funkhausorchester (Cologne) and in 2020-2021 that of the Bochumer Symphoniker. In 2021 she obtained her bachelor’s degree with Professor Alexander Zemtsov, at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne.
In addition to her orchestral career, Mabel is a passionate chamber musician: she plays with the Landesstiftung Villa Musica Rheinland-Pfalz, where she has been a scholarship holder since the 2021/22 season, and with her ensemble “Alma Trio” from Cologne, at festivals such as the Pulheim Chamber Music Days and the Cologne Stage Summer 2021. She is also a scholarship holder of the Werner Richard Foundation-Dr. Carl Dörken for the 2022/23 season.
Mabel received musical impulses from masterclasses with renowned musicians, including Lars Anders Tomter, Tabea Zimmermann, Wilfried Strehle, Hartmut Rohde. As a soloist, she participated in the “Talent Music Master Courses 2020”, with Master Orchestra of Verona, in 2022 with the Lara Symphony Orchestra and in 2023 with the Falcon Symphony Orchestra in Venezuela.
