First timpanist of the Rai National Symphony Orchestra, Biagio Zoli graduated with top marks and with honors at the Parma Conservatory studying with Danilo Grassi. During his training and advanced course, he strengthen the study of his instrument with timpanists such as Gianni Giangrasso (Orchestra Toscanini di Parma), Gregory Lecoeur and Fausto Bombardieri (Teatro del Maggio – Opera di Firenze), Brian Barker (Hamburg Staatsoper), Torsten Schönfeld (Staatskapelle Berlin).

After his experience as a timpanist in Riccardo Muti’s “Luigi Cherubini” Youth Orchestra, over the years he has collaborated with orchestras such as the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di S. Cecilia, the Orchestra of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the orchestras of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma and the Teatro San Carlo of Naples, the OSI – Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, the Orchestra Leonore, the Virtuosi Italiani, La Fil and the Symphony Orchestra of Milan, the Toscanini of Parma, the the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento, the OCM – Chamber Orchestra of Mantua, the ORT – Orchestra of Tuscany, and many others, playing in the most prestigious theaters and auditoriums in the world with conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Daniel Barenboim, James Conlon, Valerij Gergiev, Daniel Harding, Fabio Luisi, Kurt Masur, Zubin Mehta, Daniel Oren, Yuri Temirkanov, Juraj Valčuha.

Since 2022 he has been a teacher and founder of the annual course “TIMPANI!” at the “Campiani” Conservatory in Mantua. Although working mainly in the world of classical music, he is also active with pop-rock groups as percussionist and producer. In 2009 he founded the company Back to Sound, of which he became the artistic director. In 2014, he founds I Pikkerosse, a band active until 2017 with which he produced various songs and videos. He collaborated with artists such as Elio (of Elio e le storie tese), Moni Ovadia and Antonella Ruggiero. In 2020 he founded the Torino Sinfonietta, of which he is musical and artistic director.

In 2024 the No Name Quartet was born, an ensemble specialized in the 20th century repertoire, of which he is a member together with the percussionist Emiliano Rossi and the pianists Andrea Rebaudengo and Valentina Messa.
