Pianosa Island

pianosa
The legend of the origin of Pianosa Island tells a story of a pearl that slipped from the necklace of Venus, the goddess of beauty and love. It fell into the Tyrrhenian sea and became an island.
Proofs of the neolithic and the Bronze Age settlements were discovered by the archeologists. Uninhabited for many years, the Island is now part of the Tuscan Arcipelago National Park, accessible to the public. The guided tours allow the visitors to discover Pianosa’s beautiful and unpolluted surroundings.
