Glauco Venier

Glauco Venier started as a musician of classical and rock music. After graduating from the Conservatory, he specialized in the United States. He worked with some of the famous jazz musicians, performing throughout the world. Together with Norma Winstone and Klaus Gesing he recorded three CDs for ECM label, getting a nomination for Grammy Award. As part of the trio, he played in some of the most prestigious theaters : Vienna’s Musikverein, London’s Barbican, Paris’ Olympia, Venice’s La Fenice, and took part in the London Jazz Festival. MINIATURES is his latest work for solo piano and percussions, published by ECM (June 2016). Throughout his career Glauco Venier has published over twenty records. He recorded for Universal and Schott labels and for Rai, ORF and BBC. With German radio-TV WDR Symphony Orchestra and big band he recorded Antiche danze (Ancient Dances), a tribute to the traditional music of Friuli – his region –, featuring arrangements by Michael Abene and Michele Corcella. That same project, renamed SIMPHONIKA, was the opening event of 2012 Mittelfest at Theater Nuovo Giovanni da Udine. Glauco Venier currently teaches at the conservatory in Udine.
